Other vehicles scrambled to the narrow shoulder to avoid a collision. As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/news\/sa\/adelaide-hills-mother-stops-dangerous-truckie-in-his-tracks-after-alleged-dangerous-driving-c-18559751\">7News<\/a>, Atkinson quickly contacted the police but, sensing the imminent danger, decided that waiting for help wasn\u2019t an option. Instead, she chose to act.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>After following the truck for several miles, Atkinson watched as it finally came to a stop at Chain of Ponds. The driver tried to make a right turn at an intersection, but this is where she decided to make her move. Without hesitation, Atkinson leapt from her car, walked straight up to the truck, and took control of the situation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>She initially asked the driver if he was alright. He responded that he was \u201ca bit lost,\u201d prompting her to request that he turn off the engine so they could speak more clearly. Once the truck was off, she explained the danger he posed and, without missing a beat, requested his keys.<\/p>\n<p>She didn\u2019t just grab the keys and walk away, though. Atkinson also made sure to hold onto the driver\u2019s logbook until the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/police\">police<\/a> arrived, making sure all necessary evidence was secured.<\/p>\n<p>It didn\u2019t take long for the police to arrive on the scene. He is expected to face court, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/03\/australian-man-banned-from-driving-for-92-years-caught-driving-his-subaru\/\">where further penalties could be imposed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the traffic laws of South Australian, double trucks are not permitted in the North East Road where the incident occurred. Thankfully, due to Atkinson\u2019s quick thinking and bravery, a potential disaster was averted.
